Helping our own communities too.

Assalaamu alaykum,

Sadly, we assume that by living in the West there is no poverty. We can assume that because there is a benefit system in place then everyone's fine.
Yes, to a certain extent we are, and in many ways a lot better off than so many other countries.
But still, even with this system in place, many families are facing hardships now that were only really prevalent in the 50's, 60's etc.
Times are now changing and this is putting a strain on many peoples pockets, working or otherwise.
Food prices are rising daily, portions are shrinking daily and many children are without a proper cooked meal Subhan'Allah.
I was approached by a sister I know recently who is facing hardships. She had little food and was resorting to using the food banks that are gradually appearing around us.
She has been struggling for sometime and felt the need to ask for help from her own community as things were too difficult.

We gathered some cash and food donations and bought plenty of meat, chicken, rice, and essentials plus gas and electric for them to be able to eat a healthy meal and have gas and electric without worrying.
This, I know is only a temporary measure but we did it as a gift to give them some relief.

This was the remainder of the food and the sr also got Electric,  Gas and Water Rates top ups Alhamdulillah

Jazakum'Allahu Khairan to all that gave, be it food, toiletries or money. Please know that she is very grateful that her own community gave something to alleviate some of her hardships.

by Dr. `Umar Al-Ashqar
One of the greatest things that will relieve a person's distress on the Day of Resurrection is his efforts in this world to relieve the distress of those who are in distress, and to help those who are in need, and to make things easy for those who are in difficulty, and to overlook the mistakes of those who err. In Muslim it is narrated that Abu Hurayrah said: The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) said:
"Whoever relieves a believer of distress in this world, Allah will relieve him of some of the distress of the Day of Resurrection. Whoever makes things easy for those who are in difficulty, Allah will make things easy for him in this world and in the next. Whoever conceals (the faults of) a Muslim in this world, Allah will conceal him (his faults) in this world and in the Hereafter. Allah will help the slave so long as the slave helps his brother." [Mishkaat al-Masaabeeh, 1/71, hadith no. 204.]
Bukhari narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) said:
"The Muslim is the brother of his fellow-Muslim; he should not mistreat him or let him down. Whoever meets the needs of his brother, Allah will meet his needs, and whoever relieves a Muslim of some distress, Allah will relieve him of some of the distress of the Day of Resurrection. Whoever conceals (the faults of) a Muslim, Allah will conceal him (his faults) in this world and the next." [Bukhari: Kitaab al-Mazaalim, Baab laa Yazlim al-Muslim al-MuslimFath al-Baari, 5/97.]
Ad-Deenoori narrated in Al-Mujaalisah, Al-Bayhaqi narrated in Al-Shu'ab and Ad-Diyaa' narrated in Al-Mukhtaarah from Anas that the Prophet (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) said:
"Whoever helps his brother in secret, Allah will help him in this world and the next." [Silsilat al-Ahaadeeth as-Saheehah, 3/218, hadith no. 1217.]

Sleeping bags for Syria and support for The Deen Riders event

Update 11-10-13

All Praise is for Allah alone.
Whom, without His infinite Mercy this would not be possible.

We were asked by the same dear sister below if we could help in any way to raise funds for the hall hire for an event also in Aid of Syria.
Along with the sisters family and in Support of Deen Riders, they organised a very fruitful event which, Alhamdulillah raised over £7000

We managed to raise enough to pay for the hall hire and also the food which was supplied to the attendees free of charge.

Jazakum'Allahu Khairan to the organisers of the event and to all those involved in any way, shape or form who contributed in anyway to make this event a success .

Update 26-09-13

Alhamdulillah another £190. £120 paid and £70 cash.

Update 16-09-13

La hawla wala quwata Illah billah

The total has now reached £1340 Subhan'Allah. Jazakum'Allahu Khairan to all who gave.

Update 14-09-13

Allahu Akbar 500 pound reached since yesterday Subhan'Allah. Although that was the target please continue to give fi sabil Illah as this is enough for 25 sleeping bags but many more are needed

Assalaamu alaykum,

A very dear sister to me has made a pledge of 500 pound with Human Aid to supply Syria with 25 sleeping bags. As we are aware, the colder weather is just around the corner and most of us reading this have it relatively easy when it comes to warmth and comfort Alhamdulillah.
So many do not have any choice and are either sleeping rough or have been evicted from their lands by oppressive leaders.
They are living in tents in dire conditions with no other choices available so please spare a thought when you reach for the thermostat to turn up the heating.
Each sleeping bag costs 20 pounds but all we are asking is that you give whatever is within your means to give warmth to our brothers and sisters who are suffering enough.
The amazing part also, is that the sleeping bags are being made by the Syrian refugees so this will also give them a small income as well.

This is not the actual sleeping bags but any such thing would make them more comfortable than their current situation Insha'Allah.

Human Aid is also pledging a 100% donation policy so you can be assured that every penny you give goes to those in need.
We started this project just a couple of hours ago and have so far raised around 270 Alhamdulillah.

Please do give any amount your able via Paypal to mekkaouis@yahoo.com and your reward is with Allah.

Jazakum'Allahu Khairan

"He who relieves a hardship of this Dunya (this earthly life)
for a believer, Allah will relieve a hardship of the Day of
Resurrection for him; he who makes it easy for an indebted
person, Allah will make it easy for him in the Dunya and
the Hereafter; he who covers a Muslim (his mistakes and
shortcomings), Allah will cover him in the Dunya and
the Hereafter; Allah will be in the slave 's need, as long as
the slave is in his (believing) brother's need…"

Let us not forget the needy in Morocco

Assalaamu alaykum,

We tend to all know families living abroad who are in need of so many everyday things Subhan'Allah. We at Al-Huriyah Project often get asked by friends if we are able to help numerous causes. By Allah I ask Allah to increase the rizq of this whole project as there is nothing we want more than to help as many needy as possible bi ihdnIllah. But, as I said before, we only have very limited funds but Alhamdulillah we are still able to help a little here and there.
We were approached by a sr I have known and trust for over 20 years.
She informed us of a family in Morocco who live in the mountains. As beautiful as Morocco is, some live in very poor conditions. This family of 7 consists of Grandfather, Mother, Father and four children.
All they were asking for is a new set of clothes for school and for the celebration of Eid Insha'Allah. We managed to collect some donations and bought them some new clothes Alhamdulillah. The weather around the mountains can get very cold so, the clothes that we bought were a reflection on that. As much as it would have been nice to buy pretty bright coloured clothes suitable for summertime, this would have been impractical so we stuck with jumpers or cardigans for all and items they can wear every day. We still have some funds left so I will keep some aside and send more in the near  future Insha'Allah. We will also buy some more adult nappies for another friends daughter.
She is severely disabled and they have to use nappies as she is unable to walk or go to the toilet herself.
There will be many more families added to this page gradually and below is a few pictures of the clothes that your donations helped us buy.

Jazakum'Allahu Khairan to you all

A new bag for the two oldest children for school.
They have to walk for miles to reach there Subhan'Allah.

A new dress for Mum for Eid and the children

These will be delivered by hand via the brothers who drive to different parts of Morocco in vans, on a regular basis.

And lastly,  I know this is off topic but if it can inspire us to drop all wordly matters when the adhan starts then it is worth it Subhan'Allah.

وعجلت إليك ربي لترضى
"And I hurried to You, my Lord, so that You'll be pleased."...
Here is an inspirational true story that I received ...
1. A Quran teacher always advised her students to live by this aya: Ta-ha:84
وعجلت إليك ربي لترضى
"And I hurried to You, my Lord, so that You'll be pleased."...
She told them, "This aya is what moves me. When I hear the adhan and I'm in occupied and the middle of something, I remind myself of this aya...and so i get up to pray."...
"When my alarm goes off at 2 am and i want to go back to sleep I remember "And I hurried to You my Lord so you'll be pleases.", and so i get up...etc...
Her husband had the following arrangement with her: on his way home from work he'd call her so she'll get the food hot & ready, so he can come home and eat & sleep...
One day he asked her to make mahshi (stuffed grape leaves" - very time consuming. You wrap many of them and put the pot of them on the stove to cook). She had 3 more to wrap then she had to put them on the stove to cook. But the adhan came in...
So she left the 3 remaining grape-leaves (which would have taken her 5 mins) and went to pray...her husband kept calling & calling & no answer. He came home and found her in sujood and food not ready. He saw there were only 3 grape-leaves left. So he was upset & said, "You could have just finished them & put the pot to cook then pray!" No response. He went to her to discover she had died in her sujood! SubhanAllah, had she waited like any of us to "finish whats in her hand" she would have died in the kitchen! But a person dies upon what they lived on and by. And they are resurrected on what they died on.
May Allah (swt) take us in a state while He is pleased with us- bearing witness to His oneness.
Ameen...

And also this was sent by a dear sister.

Muslim recorded in his Saheeh that Ibn `Abbas said,

“While Jibril (Gabriel) was with the Messenger of Allah, he heard a noise from above. Jibril lifted his sight to the sky and said, ` This is a door in heaven being open, and it has never been opened before now. ‘ An angel descended from that door and came to the Prophet and said, ` Receive the glad tidings of two lights that you have been given, which no other Prophet before you was given: the Opening of the Book and the last (three) Ayat of Surat Al-Baqarah. You will not read a letter of them, but will gain its benefit . ”’

We have recently been blessed with sponsoring the education of 6 beautiful children in Gambia
 via Markoiro Bunda Gambia.

Updated 11-09-13

Here, with the sisters permission are the pictures of 5 of the 6 beautiful children we are sponsoring for their education Alhamdulillah.
The only reason for showing their pictures is for anyone who has donated via my blog for verification purposes.

Alagie is the senior student.

Darbou is the youngest but I am waiting for a more recent picture as this is an old picture which you will see on their FB page.

This is Jaraa Masha'Allah

This is Muhammad. This picture was sent by Whattsapp as soon as he found out that he had a sponsor.
Wow what a smile Masha'Allah

And this is sweet Sanaa Masha'Allah.

Fatamatou is our newest sponsor

May Allah protect them always, give them all a good education and may their Islamic Education be a means for them to enter Jannah Firdous. Ameen.

We have paid for the whole year for five out of the six students, just one left to raise for Bi ihdnIllah.

They do some amazing work in the local community by providing assistance to those who need it.
There are many children in need of sponsorship for their education at the cost of just £50 a
year for a junior and  85 for a senior child Subhan'Allah.
Please give any amount your able to help a child receive a much needed start in life.
One of the conditions for the child to receive sponsorship is that they also attend the local darra
(Islamic School)
A good education is such an important part of growth and more so with them studying Quran.
This can then be implemented in their lives to enrich them as children and enable them to grow into
 hard working,righteous children bi ihdnIllah
£50 will pay for tuition, uniform, shoes and starter books and pens!!!!
You can donate via the sisters new Go Fund me page or set up a standing order or direct debit for a minimum of just £5 a month.
Please visit their page for more info.

For anyone who has already donated towards the 6 students you will see your donations here too Alhamdulillah.

May Allah reward all those involved in Markoiro Bunda Gambia for enabling our future ummah to have a decent start in life. Ameen

Re:Monthly sadaqa Updates.

I would just like to add that previously, I used to update my blog each month regarding the sadaqa we collect on a monthly basis. This, as you know is used for our monthly commitments below so I didn't feel it necessary to repeat myself each month. When we take on new projects I usually do a post about it and then mention the monthly payments then. Just wanted to clarify for those who do donate their £4 a month that it reaches the same needy people/families everytime bi ihdnIllah and just how grateful they are.

So to clarify, your £4 a month helps us support 3 more orphans, 4 families in Morocco.

A widow in Gambia and a widower in Palestine and now, our new Hifdh child in Pakistan Alhamdulillah.

We also have 5 new families giving £4 a month.

Jazakum'Allahu Khairan

57:10

And why do you not spend in the cause of Allah while to Allah belongs the heritage of the heavens and the earth? Not equal among you are those who spent before the conquest [of Makkah] and fought [and those who did so after it]. Those are greater in degree than they who spent afterwards and fought. But to all Allah has promised the best [reward]. And Allah , with what you do, is Acquainted. 57:10
